The Brickyard Catchers Development Program
Our catchers development program is designed from the bottom up. We take our young athletes from the basic elements of the receiving process all the way
through the game calling skill sets. We are opening our private group sessions up for the first time and we welcome your young catcher to join us. Our goal is to
get catchers prepared to compete at the highest level in the league their in and develop them for the future teams they are looking to play for.
The Development Program
1. Balance and Receiving from the primary and secondary positions
2. Firing Positions (throwing) to all bases
3. Bunt coverages and pop ups
4. Blocking the ball
5. Blocking the plate
6. Back ups and overthrow positions
7. Covering and throwing from wild pitch positions
8. Handling pitchers to maximize their performance on the mound
9. Communicating with coaches becoming a tool for the teams success
Catchers are the quarterbacks of baseball and need to be trained to react in the game.
There is no magic secret to becoming a good catcher. It takes a lot of dedication and good work habits and a true love for the position.
